2020, September 13 - [zoethecat]

Introducing [zoethecat], Canadian multi-instrumentalist and lofi music producer.

With a prolific career in music production and recording since the late 1990's, [zoethecat] is just one of several artist aliases of Michael Chambers. He has worked with a wide range of artists including Sarah Mclachlan.

[zoethecat] is the moniker for his old school lofi sound. Influenced by the likes of DJ Shadow, Guru, and jazzy aspects of Stereolab, Michael strives to create bold, innovative and ambient music.

You can check out his works in our lofi chillhop list.

In true MP fashion, below are pretty random questions thrown at him and well, let’s see what he has to say!

If you could only eat one food item for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Falafel.

What is in your fridge right now?
Leftover chana masala, homemade apple wine, half a dozen royal gala apples, lots and lots of condiments.

What would the world be like if it was filled with male and female copies of you?
Everyone would be laid back and easy going. Every restaurant would serve amazing plant-based, deep fried foods (falafel, french fries, doughnuts, etc). Unfortunately, no one would be able to build a house or fix a car.

What is your equipment set up for music production?
I use Native Instrument's Maschine MK3 for most of my beat making. Sometimes I finish everything in Maschine, sometimes I finish the mix in REAPER. I use mostly software-based synths and samplers. Some of my favourite plugins for creating lofi music are from small developers like Toneboosters (ReelBus v4) and Inphonik (RX950).

And there you have it. Check out the works of [zoethecat] if you enjoy lofi beats to relax to. Here are all the different channels to connect with him.
